Olivia's 6th Birthday Celebration!

Olivia had her 6th birthday this past week! I can't believe how BIG she is! She has accomplished so much in this past year, it's scary!! I'm not ready for my little munchkin to be a big kid yet, I'm just not! I tried throwing temper tantrums, and begging her to stop growing up, but she just won't! Some of her accomplishments from this past year are:

• Started kindergarten
• Decided to move into kindergarten because she likes it better
• Decided we were the WORST parents because we WON'T let her move into the school
• Showed her teacher that she knows how to read (never would do this for me!!)
• Found out she has a passion for MATH!
• Discovered how to be manipulative and get her siblings to play what she wants without them realizing it (mastered this talent)
• Lost 2 teeth
• Learned that being a pack rat is pretty much the COOLEST thing out there, and EVERYTHING that we can pick up is a TOTAL treasure (she gets this from her dad)
• Was on her first soccer team and learned not to pick grass and rocks when the ball is in play (quite important)
• Became a big helper with her brother and sister and regularly "babysits" them when I am in the shower

She decided on cupcakes for her birthday treat, which really made her look old, getting all those candles onto one cake!

She really wanted a leapster for her birthday because there is a game where you can adopt a puppy and take it for a walk, and it will PEE! Quite the rage apparently.

Olivia was lucky enough to have a birthday party this year, and she decided that she wanted a rainbow party! (wasn't sure how to pull this one off). She invited a few friends from school and church, and they really had a blast!

Everyone made rainbow necklaces and bracelets.


We went on a rainbow treasure hunt to find all the missing colors of the rainbow.

We had a rainbow race, where you had to push a skittle with your nose across the finish line.

Easter Morning

We had a FANTASTIC Easter! The Easter Bunny came, hid lots of eggs, left lots of goodies, and the rest of the day was SUPER low-key! Quinten really got into the hunt. I thought he would be too little to get it, but he was all over the house finding eggs (his or his sisters' he didn't care). He'd shake them, and if they made a noise, he'd FREAK OUT until we opened it. If it didn't make a noise (was already empty), he'd toss it aside and hunt for another one.

In preschool this last week, we were studying letter X. In order to do some fun activities along with the letter, we had a nasty pirate X come and STEAL all of our pencils so we couldn't do our work! We had to do all kinds of stuff in order to find his hidden treasure (x marks the spot), and all the kids were REALLY into it, talking about how they were going to beat up the pirates if they ran into them, or how the pirates wouldn't know we weren't pirates and we'd be able to sneak right past them.

Anyways, it was a really fun activity that also had a lot of learning in it. We FINALLY found his treasure, and he had some REALLY COOL pencils that we took and kept ourselves to use for the rest of the day. The kids were loving that we took the treasure from the pirates, when Izzy announces to them all: You know, there really isn't a pirate, it's my mom...and we bought those pencils at Walgreens this morning...

What a little party pooper!! Ruin it for us all!!

Panty Thief

Whenever I fold laundry, Quinten has to steal all the girls panties. I think it is because he can put them easily on his arms. Shayne is not too proud of this aspect of his son, but we seriously have a panty thief in the house!

Seeing Double

Olivia has a 3 foot duck for a lovie: Quack Quack is his name. He is quite loved and quite tattered from all that love (and many trips in the washing machine). Since it is Easter season, there are brand new Quack Quacks in the stores. I told Olivia that I would purchase her a new one and she wouldn't have to come up with any money...if we got rid of her old one. Olivia has a REALLY hard time getting rid of ANYTHING, and she had to think long and hard. She asked how much a new Quack Quack was, I told her $9 which is quite expensive. She told me that she was going to earn the $9 so that she could buy the Quack Quack and not have to get rid of her other one...and she did! She slaved away (she earns a quarter for each job that she does for me beyond her normal chores) until she had enough to purchase ANOTHER Quack Quack! My fabulous plan failed! I wasn't able to get rid of the old nasty Quack Quack, and now we have 2!!

Holiday Confusion

Izzy: If I am bad, will the Easter Bunny not bring me candy?
Olivia: No, that's Santa, you can be as bad as you want and you still get stuff.
Izzy: Oh, that's right, only Santa watches if we're good... Will the Easter Bunny put stuff under my pillow?
Olivia: No, THAT'S the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny JUST hides eggs, he doesn't watch you and he doesn't put stuff under your pillow!!

Apparently we have a little Holiday confusion.

April Fool's

The kids decided to play their own April Fool's joke. They emptied my box of band-aids onto themselves (they each had about 15 on). Then, when people asked them what happened, they would tell them that they got into a really bad car accident...and then yell, "April Fool's" I thought it was pretty creative to come up with themselves. They enjoyed it so much, that they continued to wear the band-aids the next day and continued saying, "April Fool's". I think it was actually funnier the second day...
