YM Boating Activity

Quinten has an awesome Young Men's group and leaders who really care about the boys and have fun with them. They took at the boys boating (some of them for the first time ever). they jumped off the boat, swam and tubed all day. What a wonderful day!

Girls’ Camp

What a fun four days at Girls' Camp! Shayne got to be up there for two days as one of the Priesthood Brethren. They headed up to Flagstaff and started a week of "bonding" activities. Their first activity was a hike down West Fork Trail (absolutely beautiful scenery).

They stayed at the Hill's Cabin (which they lovingly called Glamping-since it was so posh). Olivia (one of the YCL's) taught everyone how to crochet a scrunchie. 

The next day was a lake day with kayaks, paddle boards, and swimming on Lake Mary. What a fun time!

The third day was hiking in the Lava Tubes (underground caves) and going to a Rockclimbing facility. The girls learned how to belay each other and learned to trust and support one another.

Their last day they ended with a day at Slide Rock for sliding and cliff jumping and swimming in the freezing cold snow run-off. What a trip! We have amazing leaders who went all out to provide some great bonding experiences and wonderful memories for our girls.

Boys and Mom Day

Since Shayne and the girls went up to Girls' Camp for a few days, we decided to have a "Boys and Mom" day where they get to plan everything we do that day. They worked hard on their plan, re-planning, putting more in, taking somethings out, putting all the things back in to create the best "Boys and Mom" day we've ever had (not to mention the first Boys and Mom day...)

Everyone was up early since the girls left the house by 7am. First on the list was GIANT Cinnamon Rolls at Biscuits Cafe. They are as big as your face! What a start to an amazing day!

Next on the list was going to the mall because LEGO STORE! They wanted to create some new minifies and buy some CMF (they use this term a lot and I had no idea what it was- Collectible Mini Figure). We looked at all the cool Lego Sets, and the boys spent their money on mini figures.

We also found that the mall had a new candy store that we HAD to check out. It was pretty yummy! Of course we stopped at Fuzziwigs for even more candy.

They wanted lunch from Panda...again yummy!

We found a shop that sold Pokemon Cards (super hard to find right now) so they were super excited to get a pack.

After the mall, we added a stop to Bricks and Minifigs (a new store the Lego workers turned us onto) where the boys got to build yet another mini figure and look through all the resale legos and Lego pieces.

Once we were all shopped out, we went home for unlimited screens (again, super important part of the list).

We had mac-n-cheese for dinner and the last item to check off the list was a night swim. Done!

One successful Boys and Mom day in the books!

Master Builders

These boys are some serious Lego Master Builders. They can create for HOURS upon HOURS with no breaks. They have created an entire Minecraft world, a gigantic Lego City, and now are working on a Fortnite game complete with skins and battles and supply caches. I love watching them work and play and create together.

Celebrations at the Melting Pot

We took the kids to The Melting Pot for some big-time celebrating (Izzy's 8th grade promotion and my birthday). The server asked what we were celebrating, and everyone said: Mom likes new experiences and adventures (they're not wrong!). It was a fun night with cheese fondue, charcuterie boards and chocolate fondue!

Willy Wonka Summer Camp

We had so much fun with our first Summer Camp this year. Quinten and Jessica joined the Camp Counselor group and started to lead their own rotation. They did an awesome job and had a blast doing it!

We had so much fun prepping for this camp. Of course we had to watch Willy Wonka to remind ourselves of all the fun things that can happen inside the candy factory.

We had Beauregaurde's Berry Juicing Activities. the kids got to punch a cup and then do the various activities inside (limbo, Oompa Oompa Loompa, Keepy Upsies, Floor is Lava, etc.)

Izzy led a rotation of making Jelly Bean Machines. They turned out adorable and everyone LOVED having a candy stash!

Of course we did scratch-n-sniff watercolor painting of various candy artwork. 

The house smelled fruity-licious!

Since there is a lot of inventing in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, we became inventors ourselves and had to create out of marshmallows and toothpicks. Collin said he created a church!

Everyone also invented a new Wonka Bar. Yummmm!

One of the favorite activities was creating (and enjoying) lickable wallpaper! Some campers loved it so much they licked holes right through the wallpaper!

Mike Teavee's Wonka Vision experiment. We created large candy that we then shrunk (shrinky dinks) and got them out of our Wonka Vision TV's. So much fun!

We put the campers to work in the Chocolate Factory making all sorts of sweet treats (to enjoy at home!)

Everlasting Gobstoppers, Fizzy Dipping Powder, 3 Course Dinner Gum, Scrum-diddly-umptious Marshmallows, Wonka ChocoBalls, Chocolate River Frogs, Oompa Loompa Llamas, and a Swirly Pop. They were hard workers!

Of course our created Wonka Bars are wrapped and ready to be shipped!
