Grandma and Grandpa in town!!

Over the weekend, Shayne got called into our ward's bishopric, so his parents made a quick trip down here so that Grandpa could ordain him to the office of a high priest. It was a whirlwind trip, and we LOVED every minute of it!! The kids got LOTS of snuggles! some extra fun trips around town (without mom which they like the BEST!), seeing a Diamondbacks game, climbing into Grandma and Grandpa's bed in the morning(yeah, sorry, we have NO control over that), they even talked Grandma and Grandpa into endless back scratches, while watching very important cartoons on TV!
Grandma got a pedicure done by the girls, and then did one for Bubba.
(Daddy is so proud of his son...)
This is how Grandpa looked most of the weekend, smothered in children...

Thanks so much for taking the trip down!! We love you both!!

C'mere for a sec

Bubba: Mom, could you c'mere for a sec?
Mom: What do you need?
Bubba: I need you to c'mere for a sec.
Mom: OK
(Quinten takes my hand and leads me throughout the house into the kitchen)
Bubba: I want you to watch me drink some lemonade.
Mom: OK
(Bubba drinks some lemonade)
Bubba: OK, I'm done.

I think he just likes hearing himself say: c'mere for a sec...

Tooth Hoarder

Olivia has lost her 6th tooth this weekend. She really is becoming a toothless wonder! What do you think the tooth fairy brings her? WE HAVE NO IDEA!! The kid WON'T put her teeth under the pillow!! She keeps all these precious treasures hidden in her underwear drawer so the Tooth Fairy won't be able to find them. I'm tempted to put them under MY pillow, it's bound to bring in some cash when you have THAT many to give!!

Ditching School IS Important!!

Olivia is at school all day with practically NO playtime. One 15 minute recess...THAT'S IT!! She's only in second grade and already looks forward to the days that she DOESN'T have school. So I don't feel bad getting her out here and there to go have some family time. We got her out of school early on Wednesday for a "surprise outing". They had a few clues and tried their hardest to guess. We ended up at the local theatres where they were showing Mr. Popper's Penguins. We met up with another family and enjoyed ditching school for the movies, while everyone had their OWN big box of candy. Even Bubba enjoyed the entire movie!

After, Olivia's loose tooth was hurting her, and the ONLY thing she could think of to make it feel better was frozen yogurt. Why not. We all enjoyed some delicious frozen yogurt before heading home. What a fun day ditching school!!

It's NOT Higher Brain Functioning

At our local library, they have a little display case, where people can put in their collections and display it to all the library go-ers for a couple weeks. This week, it just SO HAPPENS to be a Thomas display. Yes, we spent about 45 minutes at the display checking out every tiny detail pertaining to the Thomas trains.Once we got home, Quinten went right to making his own display. He spread trains across the kitchen table, the family room floor, my bed, his room, pretty much anywhere he could snag a little space, he would put out a track and display his trains around/in/under the track.

I was telling someone about it, and they were so impressed with his "higher brain functioning". I then showed them Shayne's display, and explained that it is NOT higher brain functioning, it is a genetic disease and he caught it from his daddy...

Quinten is now 2.5

Qinten just had his 1/2 birthday, and he was preparing for it FOR WEEKS! He was so excited to bake his 1/2 birthday cake, and the girls could ONLY WATCH!!

Quinten is SO busy, and SO boy! Nothing else in the world exists beyond trains, especially Thomas trains. If you ever don't understand what he is talking about, it's about trains. If you ever want to get on his good side, play trains. If you ever want to tick him off, touch his trains. Pretty much the world REVOLVES around trains: who has them, where they are, if we hear any, what we dream about, etc...

He also got the train Emily for his 1/2 birthday.

Namesake

For some reason, when each of my kids are little, their nick-name gets used in their "own" song. They are all simple songs, but each one LOVES their own song, and can never hear it enough...

I thought I needed to put them down before the kids grew up and FORGOT about their songs...

Bubba-Licious
(tune: Frere Jacques)

Bubba-licious, little Bubba-licious,
Bubba-licious, little Bubba-boy.
Are you my Bubba boy?
Yes you are my Bubba boy.
Bubba-boy...Bubba-boy...
O-O-O-O
Bubba-licious, little Bubba-licious,
Bubba-licious, little Bubba-boy.

Munchkin
(Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)
You're a little Munchkin, short and stout.
You really know how to wear me out.
Sometimes I don't even know what to do,
Especially when you go poo-poo.

Stinkerbelle
(Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle)

Itty Bitty Stinkerbelle,
You know how to snuggle well.
You know how to snuggle tight,
Morning, Noon, and even Night.
Itty Bitty Stinkerbelle,
You know how to snuggle well.

WE ROCK!!

Our ward does a talent show every year, and every year, the auxillary presidencies HAVE to do something. This is what we came up with this year...

I THINK WE ROCK!!

Wake-Up Call

Usually when Bubba wakes up in the morning, he just lies in bed and yells at the top of his lungs:
MOM! Come Get Me!!
MOM! Come Get Me!!
MOM! Come Get Me!!
(repeatedly until I get him)

However, this morning, he changed up his routine...
MOM! I STINK! I THINK YOU SHOULD CHANGE ME!
MOM! I STINK! I THINK YOU SHOULD CHANGE ME!
(and he really did...)

Re-Living My cHiLdHoOd

Olivia is ALWAYS wanting to hear stories from when I was little. I have a hard time remembering enough to satisfy her desire to hear stories. The other day, I was telling her how when I was a kid, we had a girls' room and a boys' room in our house, and on occasion we would play pranks on each other. I remember hiding alarm clocks underneath beds that would go off at 2am, painting my brothers' toenails while they slept, and occasionally TPing their room. The next day, the girls took it upon themselves to TP Bubba's room. They thought I would get mad if they used an entire roll, so they just put squares all over everything...

Shayne and I decided that the girls needed to learn what "REAL" TPing was like, so while they slept, we took a couple rolls and TPed them! The next morning, the girls were ECTSTATIC! They haven't let us take it down!!

Preschool Pictures

We had our preschool pictures taken. They turned out REALLY cute! I'm busy making sure all the other kids look cute too, so my kids usually get by with something I didn't want them to have. This year, Quinten got a train in the picture, and Izzy has a FATTY tattoo right on her arm...
What a cute class!!

Quinten...I am your Father...

Shayne was working on his Star Wars "stuff", so Bubba got out HIS Star Wars stuff to work right alongside Daddy. It's pretty precious when they both have a Millenium Falcon and an AT-AT, just one is miniature, and they carry on conversations about who has what guys in each!

Pamper Night

The girls bought themselves some fake nails and did their own little pamper night. They painted their toe nails, put on fake finger nails and had me put their hair up in curlers...we have such girly girls in our family...I LOVE IT!

It's Genetic

Quinten's new favorite passtime is to look at "other" kids' train collections on youtube. He could spend hours watching other kids introduce their trains, he'll even strike up conversations with the kids, telling them what trains he has/wants/likes/etc. I know I DID NOT teach him this...it is genetic. Because late at night when the kids are all in bed, Quinten's daddy looks online at "other" guys' Star Wars collections, seeing what they have/how they display/what he wants/etc... seriously...it's in the genes...

This Year's Wrap Up

I love our family's blog books. I love capturing the moments and freezing them in time so we can look back and relive those fun memorie...
