This year, one of my New Year's Goals is to celebrate more, celebrate the little things, enjoy everything, and make more memories! My favorite phrase to hear is, "Remember when..."
To accomplish this resolution, I started looking up all the crazy and weird National Days that people celebrate...boy are there A LOT! I compiled a calendar of ones that our family might have fun celebrating (nothing huge, just little things to celebrate). I'm not trying to hit everything on the list, or try to plan something every day. We'll just celebrate more, fun little ways to make a year of memories and celebrations.
Here's January's calendar of National days that we could celebrate.

We could only find chocolate covered cream puffs...no one minded...
No one is a big red sauce fan, so spaghetti is pretty rare in our house. Fun night!
We weren't sure whether we should go the route of jelly beans or bean burritos, so we did BOTH!
No complaints on Glazed Donut day! Maybe we indulged in more than just "glazed" donuts...
None of the kids were fans of the chocolate covered cherries. They said it tasted too similar to cough syrup. For me, chocolate covered cherries were always a Christmas treat so I love them because they remind me of my childhood.
We actually talked about prohibition and what happened during that time. Nope, not real alcohol, but our sparkling substitute was a fun way to celebrate the start of prohibition with Bootlegger's Day.
Everyone agrees we need more National Bagel Days if Einstein Bagels are involved!
These may just be BB guns, but guns in general and our 2nd Amendment rights are DEFINITELY appreciated in our household on this day (and all the other days....)
One Christmas we received a popcorn machine, similar to the theater's popcorn machines. Since then, we've become quite the popcorn snobs (microwave popcorn just doesn't cut it). Celebrating this day was a given. We also watched old-school Spiderman together. Toby McGuire did a fantastic job!
Everyone got new hydroflasks for Christmas, so we went to Surprise Comics and picked out new stickers for our new water bottles. Olivia went with an Office sticker, Izzy took a cactus, Quinten got Harry Potter and Collin went with a classic of Star Wars.
Our family loves Cholula hot sauce...on EVERYTHING! Perfect to celebrate that with breakfast burritos!
There are multiple National Peanut Butter Days during the year, so we'll celebrate them all uniquely (since our entire family loves peanut butter). For this day, I made homemade Reeses and the 13x9 didn't last much longer than National Peanut Butter Day. The girls are already asking when the next peanut butter day is because they NEED more of this in their lives!
Taco Tuesday is a celebration every week for some people. We joined on the bandwagon.
The kids actually weren't big fans of peanut brittle. Everyone tried a piece and left it at that.
Since our winter is so short, we really have to soak in the cold weather. We are LOVING having a Keurig that can make all sorts of gourmet hot chocolate. The girls leave super early (before 6am) for seminary so they had their hot chocolate to go. Shayne, Wicket and I decided to walk the boys to school and enjoy our hot chocolate with the cold-ish weather. Beautiful day!
This is a day that the boys were most excited for. They play and build Legos every single day. Literally, every single day. I found some hard-to-find Marvel CMF (mini-figure) packs and they were ecstatic! The girls tried to ask where their legos were and I told them I bought some too and they quickly backpedaled that they weren't really into Lego...which was good because I hadn't actually bought them any. :)
The first month of this journey has been TONS of FUN! Seriously each day we've decided to celebrate has been low-key, but something to remember. Being totally honest, we didn't always celebrate the day on the "correct" national day. Maybe a day early or a few days late. I'm not being a stickler on the calendar, just having fun small celebrations with our fun family.
