Bar Harbor, Maine

Maine was probably our favorite port of the trip. We had water taxis to get to port so we left early and had some extra time to walk around the town which was so much fun!

Maine was all about the Lobster and Shayne was so excited to have some Maine Lobster. He had been looking forward to it for weeks!

It was gorgeous walking around the bay (they hid our cruise ship behind an island which was cool to not have it disrupt the beautiful scenery).

We booked a Lobster fishing cruise through the Whale Watching Company.

They taught us how the lobster fish and demonstrated pulling up some lobster pots. There was so much information, it was so interesting!

We cruised out to Egg Island to see their famous lighthouse out there (Tommy and Aria LOVE lighthouses). We got to see a pair of Bald Eagles, lots of seals and gorgeous fall colors everywhere!

After the tour, we had to get a full Lobster Meal with all the fixin's for Shayne.

Stewman's did not disappoint!

While Tommy, Aria, Shayne and I went on our bay cruise, everyone else did a bus tour of Acadia National Forest. Heard the views were spectacular!

Boston, Massachusetts

Day 2 we pulled up in Boston and I was so excited to explore the city. We booked a Hop On, Hop Off Trolley to explore the city for the day.

So many cool places to explore. Such a fun city.

We saw Paul Revere's house. Crazy to see the places where all sorts of our history happened.

Apparently Modern's Pastries is the place to go to for the best Canolis around. We had a local in line behind us and he told us to get the Lobster Roll which is like a croissant filled with custard and whip cream. So, of course we had to get one of those as well...delicious.

We went to tour the USS Constitution which is the oldest comissioned warship. It was crazy to tour and see how all the men lived upon the ship. (It was really interesting learning about the poop deck.)

We walked up to Bunker Hill and met a volunteer who told us the story of Bunker Hill which was awesome to listen to. We could have stayed with him for hours hearing the stories of our Founding Fathers.

On the trolley we drove by the Cheers Bar-We watched plenty of that show growing up.

Fall colors just starting to explode throughout the Northeast. It was beautiful.

Our last stop before we had to hurry back to the ship was to stop where the Boston Tea Party happened. Again, so cool to be where our history happened. We spoke to Colonials there who shared more of the history behind the event (we even bought ourselves some fun herbal tea at the tea shop they now have there).

We both could have spent a few days in Boston exploring all the history that happened there.

Newport, Rhode Island

Our first port was Newport, Rhode Island. We woke up to a beautiful scenery of an awesome town that had tons of history. Nana and Papa opted to take a boat cruise around the harbor, but the rest of us wanted to walk the Sea Cliffs and go through some of the mansions of the early 1900s.

The scenery was beautiful. Walking along the cliffs was wonderful, nice sea breeze.

We took a page from Aria and Tommy's book to walk nonchalantly while holding hands and laughing. Somehow our pictures don't turn out the same as Aria's.

We toured the Breakers Mansion which was where the Vanderbilt Family had their summer home. It was so interesting to learn the history about this early American Aristocracy. I ended up reading a book about the Vanderbilt Family and learned so much about those times.

We also checked out another mansion called Rose Cliffs. They were absolutely breathtaking and so unnecessarily ostentacious. 

We heard from our uber driver that Newport has some of the best Clam Chowder in the NorthEast so of course we had to grab some on our way back to the ship.

Riding our water taxi back to the boat. (I can't believe we're all in our 40's so old!)

It was a busy first day full of walking and sightseeing. (I think we had over 17,000 steps in that day!)
