Starting Orthodontics

We recently visited the orthodontist to start Olivia, and our first step was getting 4 baby teeth pulled to hopefully guide her adult teeth to come into the right area...she was brave and handled it like a champ. She's also pretty excited to see all the tooth fairy will have to pay out for 4 teeth!!

Ninja-Go!

It doesn't matter if it's 110 degrees outside in the middle of August, if AWESOME ninja jackets come in the mail, you MUST wear them for the next 48 hours straight!!

Preschool Fun

We have a full preschool class this year!! Collin is LOVING it!

Every Day

Every morning Collin gets his backpack, lunchbox and shoes on in order to take the kids to school...and EVERY DAY, I drive a crying Collin home because he cannot stay at school with the kids...

Sonic Love

Half priced shakes after 8pm? Why yes, we'll stay out a little later than usual for some of that!!

Buddies

Collin and his little buddy Karina. They have such a love/hate relationship. Here they are both in the recliner, holding lego guys, having a serious discussion about Paw Patrol and Bubble Guppies (very important shows for them both).

Summer Bucket List

Every summer, the kids write out a list of all the things that they want to do over the summer. Every summer it is WAY more things than possible, but each summer we try and cross off as many things as we can. This summer was no different...full of fun activities!!

The Fun At Activity Days

Our girls have great leaders in their Activity Day group. They've done some amazing activities over the summer.  Here's a couple pictures from a swim party and a painting class that they did.

Do Anything You Want Day

My kids have a time limit on screens. On school days they can have 30 minutes, and on weekends, they can have an hour in front of any screen they want (TV, tablets, computer, etc.). They CONSTANTLY whine that they want MORE screen time, and that they wish I didn't put time limits on their screen time. One day, Bubba asked if he could have a day where he could do anything he wanted...all day long! Meaning, he would be allowed to look at a screen for the entire day. So we planned one. The kids thought it was the BEST DAY EVER! To be honest I think they got pretty bored by 12pm, but they would never admit to that!

Making our own recipes

EZ Bake is thriving at our house. Currently they are making up their own recipes. They are making strawberry cupcakes!!

Freezer Jam

At Activity Days, the girls learned how to make strawberry freezer jam, and Izzy decided to help me make some. So glad I have someone who knows what they are doing.

It turned out delicious!

Girl Scout Minion Movie

The Girl Scout Neighborhood rented out a theatre and hosted a Girl Scout showing of the Minion Movie. Izzy has joined a new troop and is LOVING it!!

Even though Olivia's troop is officially over, they still have a little money left, and instead of forfeiting it all back to Girl Scouts, they've decided to attend a few outings here and there until they bankrupt their account.

Last Summer Movie For The Year

Summer is winding down, and we are at our LAST summer movie. We had a couple extra kids join us (we like to try and take up an entire row). It has been one of our favorite ways to keep cool in the boiling summer. Thank you Harkins Theatres!

Happy 2 1/2 Birthday Collin!

The time has flown by...this little man is now officially 2 1/2 years old!

Following tradition, he got to help make his half birthday cake. He LOVED LOVED LOVED cooking with me.

He was all excited for the entire day to open "my happy birthday!"

WooHoo! A Tool Set!

This was the coolest toolset because he could help put the entire thing together with the tools that came with it!

...And I think he sang the loudest at "my happy birthday!"

Captain Underpants

Bubba and I started reading the Captain Underpants series. It is a silly book full of wedgies, farts, superheroes, potty talk, and little boys...one of us is in heaven.

We now have frequent sightings of Captain Underpants in our own home...

Mad Scientist Daycamp Part 2

Our day started with an exploration of boats. They each made a boat out of foil and tried to see how many objects it would hold before sinking.

We became chemists and made our own bouncy balls.

We explored the difference between balloons filled with air, and balloons that had marbles in them. It was so funny to watch the difference!

We created some "Mad Scientist" cookies.

We blew some rockets into outer space!

We blew up Ivory soap in the microwave and explored it.

Izzy ran an experiment with Diet Coke and Mentos.

How much water can a diaper really hold?

What is all that stuff that soaks up the water?

Whew! One full week of science experiments!

Mad Scientist Daycamp

We had a CRAZY group of MAD SCIENTISTS out for Science Camp! They were full of energy and ready to experiment!!

We had to make sure we had the right equipment for our experiments, specifically safety goggles and lab notebooks.

Our first experiment was "Dancing Raisins". We tried to figure out which type of soda made the raisins dance the most.

We also became engineers and built bridges and structures out of toothpicks, marshmallows, and gumdrops. They were all pretty creative!

Bubba recorded one of his creations.

They were all ready for an experiment in slime, so we made Oobleck. It was a HUGE mess and the kids LOVED every minute of it!!

For snack time, we decided to have rootbeer floats. So we had to make rootbeer and ice cream!

We played a "Touch Game" where they could only use their sense of touch to try and guess mystery items. They were pretty good at it!

Want to know what happens when you add water to a drawing on a coffee filter? Quite the artistic creation!

We also created some masterpieces with baking soda, vinegar and food coloring. We had colorful eruptions everywhere! I think everyone's favorite part was using pipettes for their experiment.

The girls wanted to do one last explosion with everyone using baking soda and vinegar. The kids thought it was pretty cool.
